How to Get to Siargao in 2026: Flights, Routes & Costs
Every route to Siargao goes through Cebu. Flights from Manila, Bohol, Palawan, and Davao with travel times, costs, and ferry alternatives. Updated June 2026.
All flights to Siargao land at Sayak Airport (IAO) in Del Carmen, about 45 minutes by van from General Luna. The main flight hub is Cebu — Cebgo, PAL Express, and Sunlight Air all operate direct flights from Mactan-Cebu to Sayak, and the flight takes about an hour. If you're coming from Manila, you'll connect through Cebu. From Bohol or Palawan, the routing also goes through Cebu.
This guide covers how to get to Siargao from each common starting point, with the trade-offs for each.

How to Get to Siargao from Manila
The March 2026 NAIA turboprop ban ended direct flights from Manila's main airport to Siargao. Some carriers have operated the route from Clark International Airport, but schedules on that route have been inconsistent — PAL suspended its Clark–Siargao service in May 2026. The most reliable way to get from Manila to Siargao right now is to connect through Cebu.
Fly Manila → Cebu → Siargao (Recommended)
Manila to Cebu is a short jet flight (about 1.5 hours) with dozens of daily departures on Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and AirAsia. From Cebu, you connect to Siargao on Cebgo, PAL Express, or Sunlight Air (about 1 hour). It adds a layover, but the connection is smooth since both flights use the same airport.
How it works:
- Fly from Manila (NAIA) to Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
- Connect to a Cebu–Siargao flight (same terminal area).
- Land at Sayak Airport and take the shared van to General Luna (see airport transfer details below).
Total travel time: 4–5 hours including a layover
Estimated cost: PHP 4,000–8,000 one way for both flights (as of mid-2026)
Pros
- Most reliable route from Manila right now
- Multiple daily flights on both legs
- Cebu connection is quick — same airport, no city transfer needed
- Works year-round regardless of schedule changes on other routes
Cons
- Requires a connecting flight through Cebu
- Total cost is higher than a direct flight would be
- Need to allow time for the layover — at least 2 hours between flights
- Both legs can sell out in peak season
Good to Know
- Book both legs together through Cebu Pacific if possible. If the first flight is delayed, they'll rebook you on the connection. Separate bookings on separate airlines don't offer that protection.
- Leave at least 2 hours between flights in Cebu. The airport is manageable, but clearing baggage claim and re-checking in eats time.
- Early morning Manila departures give you the best chance of catching a same-day afternoon Siargao connection.
- Flights to Siargao fill up between December and May. Book at least two to three weeks ahead during peak season.
How to Get to Siargao from Cebu
Cebu is the main flight hub for Siargao, and this is the simplest route in this guide.
Direct Flight from Cebu (Recommended)
Cebgo, PAL Express, and Sunlight Air all operate direct flights from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) to Sayak Airport (IAO). Multiple flights run daily, and the crossing takes about an hour on a turboprop.
How it works:
- Fly from Mactan-Cebu to Sayak Airport.
- Take a shared van from the airport to General Luna.
Flight time: Approximately 1 hour
Airport to General Luna: About 45 minutes by van
Estimated cost: PHP 1,200–3,500 one way for the flight, plus PHP 300 for the shared van (as of mid-2026)
Pros
- Fastest route to Siargao from any major hub
- Multiple airlines and daily flights
- Cebu airport is modern and easy to navigate
- Fares can be very cheap if booked early — sometimes under PHP 1,500
Cons
- Peak season flights sell out fast
- Turboprop aircraft have tighter luggage limits — typically 7kg carry-on and 10–20kg checked depending on fare class
- Weather cancellations happen, especially during typhoon season
Good to Know
- Sunlight Air sometimes offers the cheapest fares on this route, but Cebgo has the most frequent schedule.
- August and September tend to be the cheapest months for this flight. June and December are the most expensive.
- Booking at least a month ahead usually saves 20–25% on the fare.
Alternative: Ferry via Surigao City (Not Recommended)
You can take an overnight ferry from Cebu to Surigao City (8–10 hours on Starlite or Cokaliong, departing evenings) and then a fast craft from Surigao to Dapa on Siargao (1.5 hours). The ferry fare from Cebu to Surigao runs about PHP 800–1,500 depending on the class, and the Surigao to Siargao fast craft is PHP 420–520.
The Surigao-to-Siargao fast craft at the end is quick — only 1.5 hours. The problem is the Cebu-to-Surigao overnight ferry before it. You're trading an easy 1-hour flight for an 8–10 hour overnight boat ride just to reach the same starting point. The savings are maybe PHP 500–1,500, but you lose an entire night of sleep and most of the next morning.
The only scenario where this makes sense: you actually enjoy overnight ferry travel, or you've already exhausted every flight option on your dates.
How to Get to Siargao from Bohol
There are no direct flights or ferries from Bohol to Siargao. Every route goes through Cebu — either by connecting flight or by ferry. Both work in a single travel day.
Option 1: Connecting Flight via Cebu or Manila (Easiest)
Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines both sell connecting itineraries from Bohol (Panglao) to Siargao. There are no direct Bohol–Cebu flights — the islands are too close together for that — so the routing typically goes Bohol → Manila → Cebu → Siargao.
That's three flights and two layovers, so it takes longer than the ferry option below and costs more. But it's all airports — no port transfers, no timing a ferry. Book it as a single itinerary so the airline handles the connections.
- Fly from Panglao International Airport with a connecting itinerary to Siargao.
- Land at Sayak Airport and take the shared van to General Luna.
Total travel time: 6–8 hours depending on layovers
Estimated cost: PHP 4,000–9,000 one way depending on routing and how far ahead you book (as of mid-2026)
Pros
- No ferry logistics — just show up at the airport
- Single booking protects you if a leg is delayed
- Works well if you prefer not to deal with port-to-airport transfers
Cons
- More expensive than the ferry + flight combo
- Routes through Manila, which adds time and a longer layover
- Fewer scheduling options than the ferry route
Option 2: Ferry to Cebu + Flight to Siargao (Best Value)
The Bohol–Cebu ferry is fast and frequent, and Cebu has multiple daily flights to Siargao. This is usually the cheapest way to do it.
- Take the fast ferry from Tagbilaran to Cebu (about 2 hours).
- Transfer from Cebu port to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (30–45 minutes by taxi or Grab).
- Fly from Cebu to Sayak Airport (about 1 hour).
- Take the shared van to General Luna.
Total travel time: 5–6 hours
Estimated cost: PHP 800–1,000 for the Bohol–Cebu ferry, plus PHP 1,200–3,500 for the Cebu–Siargao flight (as of mid-2026)
Pros
- Cheapest option from Bohol — often half the price of connecting flights
- Frequent Bohol–Cebu ferries give you scheduling flexibility
- Reliable — the Bohol–Cebu ferry rarely cancels
Cons
- Three legs: ferry, port-to-airport transfer, flight
- Need to time the ferry to leave enough buffer for the flight
Good to Know
- Take an early morning ferry from Tagbilaran to give yourself enough time to get to Cebu airport and catch an afternoon Siargao flight.
- The Cebu port-to-airport transfer takes about 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. Allow at least 1.5 hours between ferry arrival and flight check-in.
- OceanJet and Lite Ferries run the Tagbilaran–Cebu route multiple times daily.
- If you'd rather skip the ferry logistics entirely, the connecting flight is simpler but costs more. It comes down to whether you'd rather save money or avoid the extra coordination.
Alternative: Ferry Route via Surigao City (Definitely Not Recommended)
In theory, you could ferry from Bohol to Cebu, take the overnight ferry from Cebu to Surigao City (8–10 hours), and then take the 1.5-hour fast craft from Surigao to Siargao. The last leg is fine — it's the overnight Cebu-to-Surigao crossing that kills the route. You're looking at 11–13 hours across three boats, including a full overnight, to save maybe PHP 1,000 compared to the ferry-plus-flight route.
Unless budget is the only thing that matters, don't do this. The ferry-and-flight combo gets you there in a fraction of the time with far less hassle.
How to Get to Siargao from Palawan
There is no direct connection between Palawan and Siargao — no flight, no ferry. You'll need to fly through either Cebu or Manila to make the connection. Either way, expect a full travel day.
Fly Palawan → Cebu → Siargao (Recommended)
The shortest routing is to fly from Puerto Princesa (or El Nido on Cebgo) to Cebu, then connect to Siargao from there.
- Fly from Palawan to Cebu.
- Connect to a Cebu–Siargao flight.
- Land at Sayak Airport and take the shared van to General Luna.
Total travel time: 6–8 hours depending on the layover
Estimated cost: PHP 5,000–10,000 one way for both flights (as of mid-2026)
If the Palawan–Cebu flight doesn't run on your dates, route through Manila instead (Puerto Princesa → Manila → Cebu → Siargao). It adds a leg and usually more cost, but Manila gives you far more scheduling flexibility. Total travel time for that routing is 7–10 hours.
Pros
- Avoids backtracking through Manila
- Cebu–Siargao connection is short and frequent
Cons
- Palawan-to-Cebu flights are less frequent — may not run daily
- Full travel day either way
- Manila fallback adds a third flight
How to Get to Siargao from Davao
If you're already in Mindanao, Davao is one of the easiest starting points. Cebgo operates direct flights from Francisco Bangoy International Airport (DVO) to Sayak Airport.
Direct Flight from Davao
- Fly from Davao to Sayak Airport.
- Take the shared van to General Luna.
Flight time: About 1 hour
Estimated cost: PHP 1,500–3,500 one way for the flight (as of mid-2026)
This is a short, simple connection. If you're combining Siargao with a broader Mindanao trip, Davao is the natural launch point. Flights aren't daily on every carrier, so check schedules for your dates.
Pros
- Direct flight — no layover or connecting needed
- Fares are often competitive with the Cebu route
Cons
- Fewer flight options — check schedules, not every carrier flies daily
- Only practical if you're already in or passing through Mindanao
Which Route Should You Choose?
Fly from Cebu if:
- Cebu is already part of your trip
- You want the cheapest and fastest route to Siargao
- You're flexible on dates and can book early
Connect through Cebu from Manila if:
- You're starting in Manila
- You want the most reliable route with daily options
Take the ferry from Bohol + fly from Cebu if:
- You're combining Bohol and Siargao
- You want to save money over connecting flights
Book connecting flights from Bohol if:
- You prefer airports over ferry ports
- Budget is less of a concern than convenience
Fly from Davao if:
- You're already in Mindanao
- Davao is part of your itinerary
Fly from Palawan via Cebu if:
- Palawan and Siargao are both on your trip
- You can find a Palawan–Cebu flight on your dates
Take the Surigao City ferry if:
- You're already in Surigao City or doing a Mindanao overland trip
- Every flight is sold out on your dates
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Expecting a direct flight from Manila NAIA. The turboprop ban ended NAIA–Siargao flights. Connect through Cebu instead.
- Taking the ferry to save money without counting the time cost. The ferry route from Cebu via Surigao City takes 10–12 hours overnight. The flight takes 1 hour. The price difference rarely exceeds PHP 2,000 — not worth losing a full night and morning of your trip.
- Booking separate flights on separate airlines without a buffer. If your Manila–Cebu flight is delayed and your Cebu–Siargao flight is on a different airline, no one will rebook you. Leave at least 2 hours between connections.
- Arriving at Sayak Airport without cash. The shared vans to General Luna are cash only. ATMs in General Luna exist but can run dry during busy periods. Withdraw what you need before you fly.
- Not booking Siargao flights early enough in peak season. December through May fills up fast on the Cebu–Siargao route. Two to three weeks ahead is the minimum during those months.
Travel Tips
Where to Book
For flights, book directly through the Cebu Pacific app or website if you're flying Cebgo — it's usually the cheapest option and you can manage changes in one place. Philippine Airlines and Sunlight Air also sell direct on their sites. Third-party platforms like Traveloka and Google Flights are useful for comparing fares across airlines, but book direct when prices are similar so rebooking is simpler if something changes.
For the Surigao City fast craft, tickets are sold at the port terminal on departure day. Klook and 12go.asia sell advance ferry bookings online, but the port counter price is usually the same or cheaper.
If both your Manila–Cebu and Cebu–Siargao flights are on Cebu Pacific (via Cebgo), booking them as a single itinerary protects you if the first flight is delayed. Separate bookings on separate airlines don't offer that protection.
Know Your Airport Transfer
Shared vans from Sayak Airport to General Luna charge a flat PHP 300 per person and take about 45 minutes. They wait until the van fills, so expect a short wait after landing. Private transfers cost PHP 2,000–2,500 and leave immediately.
Download Offline Maps
Phone signal around General Luna is decent, but it drops once you're on the water, heading north to Pacifico, or on rural roads. Offline maps on Google Maps or Maps.me are worth the two minutes of setup.
Have a Backup Plan for Cancellations
Flights to Sayak Airport get cancelled during bad weather, particularly from November through February. If your flight is cancelled, the airline will usually rebook you on the next available departure — but that might be the next day. If you're traveling during monsoon season, build a buffer day into your schedule and keep a night's budget for a hotel near Cebu airport in case you get stuck. Mactan has plenty of affordable options within a short Grab ride of the terminal.
Buy a SIM Card Before You Fly
Grab a prepaid SIM (Globe or Smart) at the Cebu airport before your connecting flight. Signal in General Luna is decent, but Sayak Airport has limited options and you'll want data for maps and booking confirmations on arrival.
Your First Hour After Landing
Sayak Airport is small — one building, one baggage belt. Here's what to sort out before you leave:
- Shared van: Walk out of the terminal and look for the vans headed to General Luna. PHP 300 per person, about 45 minutes. They wait until the van fills, so you might sit for 10–15 minutes after a quiet flight.
- Cash: There's no ATM at the airport. If you didn't withdraw in Cebu or Manila, you'll need to wait until General Luna — and those ATMs can run out during busy weeks. Come prepared.
- Scooter rental: Don't rent at the airport. Prices are higher and selection is worse. Wait until you're settled in General Luna — rental shops are everywhere and charge PHP 350–500 per day.
- Getting to your hotel: Most General Luna accommodations are along the main road or short turns off it. Give the driver your hotel name and they'll drop you close. If you're staying outside GL (Pacifico, Santa Monica), confirm with your hotel about a pickup — the shared vans don't go that far.
The Siargao travel guide covers what to do once you're settled — where to stay, Cloud 9, the three-island hop, Sugba Lagoon, and how to pace six days without cramming.
Connecting to Other Destinations
Once you're done in Siargao, your main onward options are:
- Siargao to Cebu: Fly back to Cebu (1 hour). From there, you can head south to Moalboal, connect to Bohol, or catch a flight to your next destination. The Cebu travel guide covers the main things to do.
- Siargao to Bohol: Fly to Cebu, then take the ferry to Tagbilaran (2 hours). The Bohol travel guide has the details.
- Siargao to Manila: Fly via Cebu. Most travelers do Cebu → Manila, which is a quick and cheap connection.
- Siargao to El Nido or Coron: Fly via Cebu or Manila, then connect onward. The how to get to El Nido and how to get to Coron guides cover those routes in detail.
- Siargao to Siquijor: Fly to Cebu, then continue by ferry via Dumaguete or direct. The how to get to Siquijor guide has the full breakdown.
- Siargao to Palawan: Fly via Cebu or Manila. There's no direct route, so plan for a full travel day. The Palawan guide covers El Nido, Coron, and how to connect them.
